Wink![]() ![]() New Photos of Wink!
We received an appeal for help for this boy from a high kill shelter - when our volunteer picked him up, the shelter pointed out that he had a goofy eye and should probably see an opthalmologist...great...just what we needed after several severe pneumonia cases, a hip replacement and other out-of-the-ordinary medical bills. Once our trusted doctor met Wink, his recommendation was to remove the eye - there were abnormal growths on it and it was pretty apparent that he had little to no vision on that side. So....Wink went in for a neuter as well and by the early evening was up and wagging his tail and greeting the hospital staff.
Wink is in a foster home recuperating from surgery - once his incision has healed and hair has grown back, it will be easy to overlook the fact that this fellow only has one eye. He absolutely loves people, gets a kick out of playing and rough-housing with other dogs and is an all around love bug.
Now, Wink IS a puppy - he is uncoordinated with GIGANTIC paws - we won't be surprised if he tips the scales at nearly 100 lbs when he is full grown. He doesn't have a stitch of obedience training (although he has yet to have an accident in the house!) - meaning "sit" is a foreign word to him! Adopting a puppy is a HUGE commitment. If you aren't prepared to dig deep for patience and consistency, along with a life time commitment, please don't consider adopting Wink.
