Aurora

"The school of hard knocks is an accelerated curriculum" is an old saying that perhaps many of us have heard. When someone has graduated from the school of hard knocks, we know that wisdom has been acquired through life experiences. If that is what happens, Aurora must have the equivalent of a college degree! Aurora was found as a stray with her doggie partner in Palm Springs. When they were picked up and their owner contacted, it was learned that Aurora had puppies. Rather than paying the fees to reclaim them, the owner decided to leave Aurora, her doggie partner, and her puppies at the shelter because he didn't want to "have a hassle". That was amazing! And it was even more amazing when he decided to come back and reclaim her partner, leaving Aurora and her puppies behind.

Aurora must have instinctively known that her puppies' future was bleak because she guarded them with everyone ounce of strength in her body. No one was allowed near them. When her pups weren't around, Aurora was a different girl, sweet and wanting to be petted. Rescue was contacted and asked if we could take the puppies. The shelter felt that its only other option was to euthanize the puppies in order to give Aurora a chance to be adopted. It took a lot of coordinated effort by a lot of Rescue volunteers but the time had come for Aurora and her puppies to move on. She must have known we were the good guys because she immediately allowed us to pet her puppies and pick them up. She was a very good mom. Now that all the puppies are grown and either adopted or waiting to be adopted, Aurora is ready for a human family of her own.

Aurora has a very puppy-like nature about her herself. She loves to do wind sprints around the yard - sort of like a canine energizer bunny! She likes to chase and to be chased. And she also likes to just lie down and be cuddled. Maybe it comes from her time on the streets but she does have a bit of wanderlust in her. She needs a family who will be attentive in making sure all gates are secured and doors are closed. It takes Aurora about two seconds to find a way out to the great world beyond, and then she's on her way.

Won't you invite Aurora into your home and your life? When you do, we know that the door to hard knocks will be closed and Aurora will never have to study again!
