Baron
Baron & Reba when they first came to Coastal!
Baron and Reba are 2 dogs that have a ton of love to give. They just lost their home due to a family illness . . . they were dropped off at an Adoption Event and both dogs were panic stricken. They knew something wasn’t right, they knew Mommy and Daddy are leaving them behind. Both dogs would not leave their side the entire time, they stuck to them like glue. It was heartbreaking to see the dogs so attached to the only family they’ve known all their lives . . . if we only had a video camera, it’s very hard to put into words what the dogs were feeling, one thing is for certain they knew that day they would never see their family again.
Baron and Reba are both housebroken and they are wonderful with other dogs. They need to loose a little bit of weight, a little exercise and the right amount of food will make a world of difference. They are playful dogs and quite agile.
The next time you’ll see them, they’ll have a nice tight waist and they will be trotting down the lane like the Hottie German Shepherds that they are. Baron and Reba will be undergoing a make over!!! So stay tuned . . . .
Update from "Baron's" foster Mom:
Baron came for a 5 day visit. Here is what I have learned so far about this sweet gently loving beautiful hunk of a boy – in a very short time.
Baron is fully house trained and loves to hang out with you but is not needy or constantly underfoot. He has great indoor manners – often waits to be invited into a room and does not beg – even when I am eating at the coffee table. He loves his ball and to fetch – He brings the ball or his duck to bed with him at night. Baron is not a barker – when someone knocks at the door he alerts you but getting up and sniffing at the door. He greets people nicely at the door and has no desire to run out. He sleeps in a bed in my room without issue – he waits patiently for me to wake up. He will tell me by licking my hand that he needs to go to out the bathroom. He will sleep in a crate when asked although his size keeps him from getting really good sleep in a very large crate. He is a great car rider – just settles in and is relaxed – doesn’t bark at motorcycles.
We have been very social – he is a great leash walker. We have walked to get coffee every morning he sits tied to the fence and waits patiently for me to return and then we go to the beach. He has been to a small dog shop and is a good shopper. He has been to the Del Mar Plaza and experienced sunset while I enjoyed a drink with a friend. He a perfect gentleman with great manners! People stop us frequently to comment on what a magnificent dog he is. Despite his size, Barons demeanor makes him very approachable and he is happy to have additional pats from strangers. He loves to meet new people including children. We have played fetch at an open park with a 20 foot leash attached and he did not venture far from me.
Between our daily activities he is happy taking a long nap – usually on the kitchen floor. He will come to check on me occasionally when I am out of sight. He knows and responds well to: “come” and “get in your bed” – he will sit and lie down after some work.
Despite a full life this week Baron has a sister – Reba that he is missing – dearly. He would be most happy to be with her again together in a home. He does not do well being left. He has always had his sister and would do best with another dog in the home. He gets along great with dogs of all sizes including puppies that jump up on him! He has never had to learn to be alone and it is not – as expected- and is a stressful experience for him without a companion.
Baron is an amazing dog - this is probably the first time that he has been to some of the places he has this week and without his life sister – his life long companion. He is hoping to find a great home again hopefully with his sister or perhaps a new canine sibling where he can feel safe and secure and loved!
