Bear
Bear, aka Papa Bear, is the most clam, well mannered German Shepherd you'll ever meet. All the dogs love him and he loves them back all the same!! Little tiny pups at six weeks of age? Loves them. A ten month old Enzo with whom he was kenneled (and who also joined us at Rescue)? Loves him too!
Papa Bear was found as a stray in Riverside. Unlike many dogs whom we meet, he doesn't look as if he had been an outdoor dog. He looked fairly groomed, didn't have any matting (he is a coated boy), has a great disposition, and his teeth are nice and healthy. And he certainly doesn't look as if he missed many meals and could, in fact, lose a little bit of weight.
When we met him at the shelter, he immediately put both paws up on the kennel (my, he was a big boy then!) and did everything he could to stick his nose through the kennel gate to get and give some kisses. On his ride from the shelter, he stretched out his big Papa Bear body, enjoying every minute of the AC breeze in his face. With his agile and regal body, he is fit for a Princess or a Queen. Or maybe just a Mama Bear!
Papa Bear is a very easy dog to have in the house and as a walking partner. He takes treats from your hand with gentleness and when you look at him, you immediately know that he has a super gentle soul and a big heart. Papa Bear is looking for a home where it's quiet - not too much foot traffic, please - and he love to have another dog around who is preferably of the same age and demeanor - no jumpy playful dogs please!
Bear is currently in a boarding facility. He would love to have a warm bed and someone to love him, whether it be in a temporary foster home or in a new forever home. Could you open your heart and home to this handsome boy?
