Beckham

Beckham, scared and at the Shelter

Beckham safe in foster care!

In mid July, a volunteer from an all breed rescue noticed this adorable, scared boy hiding in the corner of his run in the building the public doesn't have access to. He had been abandoned at the shelter by his family because they "had no time for him." He was so scared, the shelter put a "caution" note on his card.

When the volunteer met Beckham (just days after he was dumped), with a little sweet talk and he came right up to the front, licked her hands, and leaned his body against the fencing. He so wanted human touch and affection. After just a minute, Beckham's body language improved, and he was wiggling, wagging, and pawing at the cage for more attention. But the shelter never moved Beckham into the adoptable building.

He was saved by a shelter volunteer, just as he was being walked into the euthanasia room.

Beckham is understandabley scared, he's just a baby in a very frightenting environment. Don't kid yourself, dogs do not feel safe at the shelter. Beckham has shown no signs of aggression, all of his body language is submissive. He went for a walk with a male shelter worker and shyly comes over when called.

Beckham is gorgeous, sweet and lovely, but he is only five months old, and needs a home that will patiently help him gain security and confidence to blossom.

UPDATE!

Hi, my name is Beckham. I'm almost six months old now and my foster mom says that I'm old enough to speak for myself.

I sure am glad to be in a foster home with two GSD siblings and humans who love me. I have finally learned what toys are and I really like playing with my GSD sister. I like my GSD brother, too, but my mom says he's an old geezer and I need to be careful not to hurt him. I keep trying to be just like him hoping that he'll finally decide that it's not so bad having me around.

If you have lots of love to give me, another dog for me to play with, and LOTS of food for me to grow big on, please take me HOME!!!!!!!
