Bella Vita

Bella Vita is named after a promise we have made to her, a promise for a "Beautiful Life." Bella is a six-month old black and tan German Shepherd. She was picked up as a stray with her partner, a Mastiff. The shelter workers were horrified at her condition. At six months of age, on the date she came to the shelter, she weighed exactly 17.4 pounds. The average weight for a female German Shepherd at that age is 50.1 pounds. She also had mange on her face and ears. Upon examination, the vet described her as "quiet and listless," with her eyes sunken into her head, possibly due to being underweight. The vet recommended medical treatment for her skin condition and free feeding because of her weight.

Bella is not listless anymore. After being fed in the shelter, receiving medication, and now coming into a foster home, she is so happy. She wants to play and run and chase anything that will run from her. At this point she is too young to even know that her owners were at the shelter when she was there. They came and picked up her partner, the Mastiff, and left her when they found out that it would cost more because she hadn't been spayed. Bella Vita now has a chance for a beautiful life with a family who will love and care for her the way she deserves to be loved and cared for.

Puppies are a life-long commitment. They need time, training, vet care and healthy feeding to become good canine citizens. Don't even think of adopting a puppy unless you intend to invest the time and money and commitment required, and you can expect to lose a few good shoes along the way!

If you are interested in meeting "Bella", please fill out our online application. An adoption counselor will contact you. Due to the overwhelming response we get to puppies, we will not be able to provide information until we have an application on file.

Our adoption donations range from $300 to $500 and are tax deductible.
Dogs will be spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and in most instances they will be microchipped. To those big hearted people willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems, we will work with you on adoption donation amounts.
