Bentley

"My little dog--a heartbeat at my feet," is a quote attributed to the writer, Edith Wharton. When you think of big dogs such as a German Shepherd and small dogs such as a Chihuahua, you probably wouldn't think that Edith Wharton's quote would cross the mind of the big dog. Let me introduce you to Bentley, a three year old boy who is as sweet as he can be. Unfortunately, Bentley's owner was no longer able to keep him and so he relinquished him to a high kill shelter.

While residing at the shelter, shelter staff were freaking out because they couldn't find two little Chihuahuas and feared they had become stuck in the gutter. At this particular shelter, the gutters between the dog kennels are so large that small dogs can slip through and can conceivably be lost forever. After looking for these "gutter runners" (the shelter's words, not our words!), they found them snuggled up to Bentley in his kennel, trying to get warm! Besides being willing to help small dogs in need, Bentley rides perfectly in a car; doesn't seem bothered by traffic, people, or anything else; is well mannered and extremely affectionate; and is very much a gentle soul.

He is currently in a boarding facility. He would love to have a warm bed and someone to love him, whether it be in a temporary foster home or in a new forever home. Could you open your heart and home to this handsome boy?

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $400 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
