Cheyenne

Cheyenne is now slimmer and well on her way to becoming an impressive, beautiful example of the German Shepherd breed! Out in public she never wants for attention and looks - she cuts quite the imposing figure. And while she comes across as outgoing and confident in public, she’s really an ultra-affectionate, sensitive, and sweet-hearted gal at home.

More than anything, Cheyenne is people-oriented. She loves being where her people are, inside or outside. She warms to strangers on the street fairly quickly, and welcomes visitors to the home cheerfully. She happily met a 2-year old, but at this point she might too energetic for small ones to handle. Her cute quirk on the leash is to turn around and sit on your feet, ensuring some petting time! She’ll take treats gently and doesn’t guard her food or toys. She would be great for any activity she could do with her loved ones, like hiking.

Cheyenne is very dominant with other dogs, and would do best by herself or with a carefully considered dogmate. She doesn’t hate dogs, but doesn’t know quite how to relate with them yet. How much of this is due to her past and subject to change is still unknown for this young lady. Perhaps once she’s in a stable, loving environment she won’t feel such a need to put on her alpha display. At a Petsmart recently, she eagerly met a young Doberman and together they proceeded to play fight and happily bark up a storm, drawing quite a crowd. No cats for this girl!

She likes using her crate, and quickly learned the backyard spot and command to do her “business.” She’s smart and will learn the household rules pretty quickly, but any training of basic commands will have to involve positive reinforcement only! Despite her outward toughness, she’s really a tender, energetic sweetheart who just wants to please her people, and will respond with praise and consistency. She’ll make a loyal, sweet and beautiful pet for the right home!
