Christy

This writer is dating herself by telling you that she remembers the New Christy Minstrels, a folk group popular in the 1960's. They took their name from the Christy Minstrels, a minstrel troop popular in the 1800's who introduced many of Stephen Foster's songs. Okay, that's a long way to get to the popular Stephen Foster song, My Old Kentucky Home. Even though we live in California, not Kentucky, we know that the sun will shine bright on our Christy's new home just as it did on that old Kentucky home!

Christy is a beautiful one year old black and tan coated girl who came to shelter as a stray. Although we at Rescue don't know anything about her prior home, we do know that she would be wonderful in your home. She is easy to walk on a leash, she sits, she sometimes goes down, and she is very treat motivated (that means she'll be a treat to train as well!). She is house broken, she is crate trained, and she rides well in a car. She has great house manners except for getting into the occasional thing you don't want her to get into when you aren't watching!

Smart girl that she is, she responds well to voice corrections. And she'd like to remind you that she is still almost a puppy! She is very playful and loves to play both with humans as well as other dog friendly dogs (she can be a little cautious until she decides that the other dog is friendly as well). She will happily follow you around (she loves people, both men and women) and may like to have another dog in her life. Kids or cats are still unknown but keep tuned! She loves stuffed toys and will soon carry around a favorite that you give her in your home. Won't you welcome her to your California home? When that happens, we know that the sun will shine bright on our Christy!

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $400 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
