Dempsey

Dakari found herself unceremoniously dumped at the shelter by her owner, obviously very pregnant. Fortunately for her we were able to make room for her and she was safe in a foster home when she delivered her puppies on Mother's day. Imagine our surprise when only expecting 10 pups, Daraki welcomed her "Baker's dozen" into the world over the course of the day. Every time we thought she was though, we found yet another pup had arrived. 13 pups is a very large litter and these pups have kept their momma busy for the past 6 weeks!

Now weaned and enjoying some independence, Dakari's 5 boys and 8 girls are almost ready for homes of their own. They love to explore, play with their toys and rough house with each other. They also enjoy the company of the big dogs in their foster home. They love to initiate play through the fence of their puppy area and a game of follow the leader is always fun! They are also very people oriented and love to be petted and played with.

Dakari's pups will be 8 weeks old coincidentally on July 4th, independence day. We will be sending them home after the holiday weekend. We are now accepting applications for them.

Puppies are a life-long commitment. They need time, training, vet care and healthy feeding to become good canine citizens. Don't even think of adopting a puppy unless you intend to invest the time and money and commitment required, and you can expect to lose a few good shoes along the way!

If you are interested in meeting Dempsey, please fill out our online application. An adoption counselor will contact you. Due to the overwhelming response we get to puppies, we will not be able to provide information until we have an application on file.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $400 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
