Dakota
When Dakota and her brother came into the shelter, they were both so afraid that the initial evaluations could not be done. But, as in her brother, the attendant looked beyond her fear and saw a personality that was worth saving. So her evaluation was rescheduled for another day.
In the shelter, Dakota and Maverick were placed in separate kennels with strange dogs. They were reunited for the first time on the day of their rescue. This was a very happy time for them, not the usual rough-housing that you see when two dogs who haven't seen each other for a long time meet again. It was lots of kisses and staying close to each other.
Dakota and her brother were so close that we wanted to let them ride in the same crate home, but because of Maverick's size, Dakota had to share her crate with another dog. She got along so well with the other dog, you would have thought she was her sister also. Dakota relaxed during the long, quiet journey to her new home. Once there, she lavished in the attention she got from the volunteers, she played with the other dogs, but, most of all, she enjoyed being close to her brother.
Puppies are a life-long commitment. They need time, training, vet care and healthy feeding to become good canine citizens. Don't even think of adopting a puppy unless you intend to invest the time and money and commitment required, and you can expect to lose a few good shoes along the way! We are asking a $400.00 donation for Dakota's adoption.
If you are interested in meeting Dakota, please fill out our online application. An adoption counselor will contact you. Due to the overwhelming response we get to puppies, we will not be able to provide information until we have an application on file.
The minimum adoption donation ranges from $300 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible. Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems. Donate today using PayPal! Help us save dogs!
