Sterling has been adopted! 11-16-2014

Male German Shepherd Dog /Australian Shepherd mix about 1-2 years old. Good with kids. Gets along with other dogs.

Sterling is quite a love! He's potty trained, great in the house, dog friendly and great with kids. As you can see from his video, he takes direction well, knows "sit," "down," "stay," "wait," "shake" and "high five." Sterling loves to go for car rides, take walks, play with his toys, and is very agile with an affinity for agility - he loved the agility tunnel and plays on the slide at the park. He is very treat motivated and learns new commands quickly. He can be a talker when he's annoyed or excited, but he doesn't bark excessively.

Sterling was probably an outside dog in his previous life, but has quickly acclimated to indoor living. The shelter had him as 4, but we think he's probably closer to 2 years old. A super sweet boy, Sterling loves people and other animals, loves to play and also loves to snuggle on the couch and hang out with his human. He's an all around awesome boy with a zest for life and good conversation!

Sterling loves other dogs and plays very well with his two foster brothers. He was emaciated when rescued and, as a result, has displayed food guarding. He should not be fed with other dogs and will need a home that is willing to work with him on this issue. Sterling is quite active and is happiest when he has a lot of playtime. He would love a family who enjoys hiking, running, agility, or all of the above!

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
