"The other day I sent out an e-mail to more than 200 people asking for the best Pet Food Recall Websites out there. I have put the answers together and they are listed below. I think the trick, however, is to use at least two of them together...as not all sites have the same information.

Please distribute this list far and wide, as the thing I found most disturbing was how many people (even within the animal welfare industry) wrote back to me calling it the "Menu Foods" recall. I do hope you will let people know that the recall expanded WEEKS ago to INCLUDE MANY MORE FOODS other than just Menu Foods.

So please, add these links to your sites, and pass them along to your lists. Also, print up this information and post it in dog parks and other areas, as we are still hearing of elderly people, without access to the internet, feeding these foods to their pets."

Best Pet Food Recall Websites:

The FDA's website, below, lists recalled food, but also provides a search engine that you can us if you don't know the manufacturer of your food. For example, if you searched many websites for "ALPO", you wouldn't find that name in the "A"s, mistakenly thinking that Alpo was not recalled. Many people would not know to look under "NESTLE" or "PURINA" for "ALPO", as Nestle-Purina is the distributor of Alpo:

The following website was interesting, as it lists ALL foods, recalled or not. I like this site because people won't assume they're food is safe just because they can't find it on another site, when the truth is they may be looking under the wrong name:

This last website included foods that were added TODAY to the recall, that were not yet showing up on the above two sites when I checked (Harmony Farms and Mulligan Stew)....so this should also be used for the latest breaking news:
