Duke

Duke is currently in a temporary foster home and he is already starting to feel better. We are looking for a long term foster or adoptive home for Duke where he can have his regal nature restored! Aside from the Perianal Fistulas, Duke also has an eye infection that has been bothering him for years (but as you can see from the new pictures, they are rapidly improving), ears that were crusted with years of dirt and debris and a skin infection from the neglect he has endured.

Duke will be a healthy dog again and we are committed to helping him find his happily ever after. Duke has years of love left to give. He is great with everyone and everything. Won't you consider meeting him?

4/12/10 update from Duke's foster mom & doctor: Duke is now well enough to get neutered so that happened just a few days ago. Dr Wheaton was able to give him an overall check and reports that he is rapidly improving healthwise. Duke loves his foster sister and at adoption events, will laze in the back of an SUV soaking up the sun and enjoying her company. He is wonderful with other dogs and a very mellow yellow fellow.....he's a perfect age for a family just starting out with a dog - gentle, even energy, likes everyone. Come meet Duke!!!

Duke is currently in a temporary foster home. We are looking for a long term foster or adoptive home for Duke, where he can feel the love and enjoy the comforts of a forever home. Duke's foster mom calls him a teddy bear, and he adores everyone, 2 and 4 legged alike. He suffered from an eye infection that was neglected for years. But his eyes have since healed and the hair around his eyes is starting to grow back. Duke is house trained, crate trained and loves to go on walks. He greets everyone with his tail wagging. Duke is very calm and even tempered in the home. He prefers the familiarity and security he gets from his home environment. He is not terribly fond of a crowded, noisy environment outside of the home. He is 5 years old, a perfect gentleman with a regal nature. Duke is a very hearty and healthy mature dog, but he will require some medication for the rest of his life. The good thing is that he swallows his pills like a champ. No fuss, no muss.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $400 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
