Gretta

"Each time we face our fears, we gain strength, courage and confidence in the doing." This is an anonymous quote but it seems appropriate for Gretta, a lovely one to two year old girl who recently joined us from a high kill shelter. She is a very sweet and gentle soul. When she arrived at the home of one of our Rescue volunteers for a one week stay, she was very reluctant to enter the house. Once in the house, she was cautious. But once she put her fears aside, her confidence returned and she blossomed. Isn't it amazing how much just a little human kindness can accomplish??? We know that she'll soon exhibit the same confidence inside as she does when she is outside where she is quite the explorer.

Gretta appears to be house broken or at least she quickly figured out that she is not supposed to potty in the house. Food, however, is another story because she seems to think that any food and all food is there just for her! She's a smart girl though and she was already learning that her two front paws belong with her two back paws for "four on the floor", not on the dining room table! Gretta loves plush toys. She loves to snuggle with you and give you kisses. If you invite her to join you on the bed, she'll be more than happy to accept! She's crate trained though so not to worry if you'd prefer to keep your bed for yourself! She'll be fine riding with you in your car and she's okay on a leash. As for other dogs, she was somewhat cautious with the other dogs in the house. Because the boy dogs are a bit tough and intimidating, Gretta preferred to spend her time with the girl dog who gets along with everyone. Keep tuned for an update on children or cats.

Her volunteer hostess recently wrote, "She was a great house guest. I would invite her over again." Won't you be that gentle and patient someone who decides to invite this sweet girl into your life?
