Halston

Hi, I'm Halston! I'm living the good life in my foster home currently, but I've come a long way to get here. My younger days were stressful and life wasn't so good then. I was kept outside for much of the time, and I was treated poorly by my owner. Then I turned to living on the streets. But life in the streets of Riverside wasn't easy. I was alone and hungry, looking for a family to call my own. I was picked up by a truck with other dogs, and the next thing I knew I was in the shelter. I was very thin, tired, and didn't have much hope of finding my forever family. But then, my life began to turn around. A lovely woman with the Coastal German Shepherd Rescue saw the handsome charmer I could be, and she took me to San Diego.

After a long car ride, a trip to the vet, a cone around my head, and a few loopy days, I finally arrived at my foster home. My foster home is run by two lovely GSDs [and they let some two-legged creatures live there, too]. Those dogs taught me how to be a dog again, how to trust, and how to live in a REAL home! I was shy at first when I got there, but I warmed up quickly to them. I am fully house trained, I know how to use a doggie-door, and I am very well-mannered. I'm calm - I don't jump up on things or people. I met a cat for the first time - very odd creatures. But I'm friendly around everyone - cats, kids, and other dogs.

I'm mature and refined. I want a family of my very own to love and care for. I will sit at your feet, sleep by your bed, watch you cook dinner - I would be a great companion for anyone. I do make one request: I love getting my head scratched. I even groan a little when you do it.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $400 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
