Harley

Harley is a very affectionate, loving, and handsome one year old dark black and tan female. She arrived at Rescue with Hanson but they do not have to go home together. After being purchased from a breeder by a 78 year old man, they were backyard dogs, left outside, afraid to even enter the house. After the death of the elderly gentleman, Hanson and Harley were given to his grandchildren who not only didn't want them but they didn't even like dogs. Hence, their arrival at Rescue where we know their lives have already taken a positive turn.

Harley's twelve month journey would have been difficult for any dog. Dogs need companionship, care, exercise and training. If dogs are left outside for extended periods of time, they are deprived of those things. In addition, Harley was a puppy during this time, and a puppy needs to learn how to relate to her family, her home, other dogs, and the environment in which she lives. German Shepherds are very people-oriented dogs and their loyalty and the depth of their bond with humans are legendary.

In just a few days, Harley is becoming more confident but it will take a patient owner to bring her into her own. She already is full of love - in fact, she's called a love bug! - but now she has to become full of confidence as well. She'll bask in the attention of a loving home, grateful for providing companionship to you just as you provide companionship to her.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $400 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
