Hensley
One of his goals in life is to be a lap dog… his compact size might make that a reality for him one day – first he puts his paws on your lap and then cautiously wiggles his way forward… Hensley has a few other goals that he is working really hard on. He doesn’t like to be confined (crated) or left alone. He is making great progress on beginning to relax while in a car (confinement).
Hensley does have valid reasons to be a little insecure. His previous owner chose to leave only him behind, in a high kill shelter, and take his canine sibling. Hensley had fines levied since he was not neutered. His owner didn’t value him enough to pay the fees. He just left him to an unknown fate. His fate at that time was to meet an evaluator who didn't like his look, and when she wrote down the reason for euthanasia, it simply said 'He looked at me wrong.'
Hensley's ultimate goal is to find that forever home with people who will have the time and patience to work with him and help him trust that they will always come back.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $350 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible. Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis.
