Ireland

Ireland is a 3 year old black and red female. She was just rescued from a high kill shelter. Like most of the dogs at the shelter, she came in as stray, so the shelter didn’t have any history on her. At this time, we don't know much about Ireland other than our evaluator's observations and notes. We will post updates to her bio as we spend time and get to know her better.

Update from Ireland's foster family: 4/06/09
Ireland is a very sweet girl. She walks like a dream on a leash and keeps up when you take her for a run. She knows basic commands, is housebroken, and rides well in the car. So far she's good with cats and dogs as long as she's properly introduced and nobody gets right up in her face. When we walk past the little kids in the park she doesn't even notice they are there. She's a little hesistant to go into her crate, but once in there she settles down and relaxes immediately.

She's got a lot of energy for a 3-year old dog and plays great with our other dog. Additionally, she sleeps through the night and doesn't cause any mischeif. Ireland loves to chew and thoroughly enjoys rawhide bones and the occassional bully stick but doesn't really know what 'treats' are so we've been using lots of affection and attention for the rewards with training. She's a confident dog that would be a good fit for a family with older children (10 and up) couple or single with or without another dog.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $400 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
