Ivy

Ivy's so called caretakers tossed her away without a 2nd thought - if only they had spent a little money on an exam when her eyes started to cloud over, her condition would have been easily treated. Called "pannus", this easily treatable disease uses inexpensive medications and Ivy can see almost as well as any dog - she can lead a VERY normal life!

Ivy has gained confidence in the time she has been with the rescue. She is a very tall & elegant girl with a big of a protective streak! When she hears a doorbell ring on TV, she goes running & barking to figure out where it is! She gets along fine with other dogs and usually picks out the best looking boy to entice into a wrestling game. She is housebroken and loves to be inside with her human foster family.

Update 5/16/11:
After faithful treatment for a condition called pannus, over time, Ivy's eyesight has returned to almost normal. All it took was for her to get the right medication, a dedicated set of volunteers, a great vet and she's almost 20/20! She'll probably always need an inexpensive ointment in her eyes but nothing more.

Ivy is a beautiful sable girl with soft ears. She is very happy and yearns to have a family that she can bond to. She is housebroken, great with other dogs (she does love the fellas!) and would be a perfect family companion for older kids.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $300 to $400. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
