Lacy
Lacy was found as a stray, and from her appearance, it's apparent that she wasn't very good at finding either food or a good samaritan who was willing to give her food. As with many strays we rescue, she is so thin you can count her ribs.
Lacy was very guarded when meeting a male volunteer, but warmed up very quickly as you can see from her photographs. We can never know her whole history, but it is possible and most likely probable that she was mistreated by someone in the past, maybe a male. She is very playful and loves to run with her human companion. She is content to walk by your side on a leash and looks behind if she gets ahead of you.
5/10/08 Update from Lacy's Foster mom
She loves to go on walks and play with any assortment of toys with you and takes true pleasure in a rolling around in the grass. Lacy is very well mannered in the kitchen and waits patiently for her meals and very, very gently takes any treats you offer from your hand. While love at first site is so easy with Lacy, she prefers to have a little time to get to know you first, especially if you are an adult male or large dog. But once she knows that you are okay, she is very friendly and loving and once she falls in love with you, she will follow you anywhere.
Lacy only barks with purpose—to protect those she loves and to scare off those she perceives as a threat—but stops once she knows all is okay. A quick study, Lacy has already learned several commands in less than a week! Lacy is comfortable inside the home and well-mannered and can sleep in her crate at night. She will look to you to set the boundaries, then will respect them.
If you are willing, Lacy loves to snuggle with you on the couch, but will stay off as well when you wish. It would be impossible not to fall in love with Lacy and she deserves a perfect forever home.
We are asking a $400.00 donation for Lacy's adoption.
If you are interested in meeting me, please contact Teresa via email at baltao@sbcglobal.net. Don't forget to fill out our online application.
The minimum adoption donation ranges from $350 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible. Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems. Donate today using PayPal! Help us save dogs!
