Lexus

Video of her pups

Lexus is a beautiful two year old female. She was relinquished to the shelter with her 8 new born pups and the sire of the litter. Both mom and dad were shepherds so we know the pups are 100% German Shepherd. We were to late to save the male, but we did save Lexus and her babies. Lexus has been a great mom and her pups have grown up nicely in our care. They are almost ready for their new homes so Lexus will be ready for a new home too. Please check back shortly for more information and photos soon!

Update from foster mom on 11/20/2008
Lexus has been a very well behaved houseguest! Even after weeks at the kennel, she is still completely housebroken and well mannered around the house (except a little too much interest in the trash bin and what is on the counter!) She gets along well with my two male German Shepherds. She likes rubbery toys and balls and carries them around. She sleeps quietly at night and will sleep in a crate if asked (but it’s not really necessary since she is good in the house). She does fine riding loose in a car. She doesn’t chew things except dog toys, she doesn’t bark outside or do anything destructive.

She’s pretty loving and wants a relationship with her people, but can get a little jealous when the other dogs are getting attention. She alerts when someone is at the door, just like a good shepherd should, but is friendly to people. Despite the fact that she just weaned 8 puppies, she has kept a beautiful coat and is only a few pounds underweight (which will fix itself soon as she is a good, non-picky eater). She will be spayed very soon and ready for her forever home. She did a great job raising those pups, and how it is her turn to be pampered.

As you can see, she is totally on board with the concept of “the dog couch” (that’s her in the middle) although I have trained her that people couches and beds are off limits and she is respecting that. She’s a honey, if I didn’t already have two dogs, I would keep her myself!

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $350 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
