Lobo
Lobo has an independent streak and likes to explore the yard on his own. He is absolutely fine with other dogs and on his first night in his foster home, he slept quietly through the night with a big rawhide for company! We are guessing that Lobo is north of 5 years old.
Update 4/21/08
Lobo has gained the weight he needed, and is now in fine shape. As his photos show, he’s a big boy (around 85 pounds), with a gorgeous large head and sturdy bone structure. He should stay on the lean side to deter any problems with arthritis as he gets older. An apparent past injury has left him with a somewhat flattened left front hock (ankle), but it’s long healed and doesn’t slow him down. Of course, he’s a senior fellow and is content with a relatively low activity level. He’d be an ideal companion for someone with a quiet lifestyle who also wants the feeling of security that the presence of a big, strong GSD provides.
Lobo loves to ride in the car, where his impressive baritone bark and his proud, classic appearance would be enough to deter any unwanted attentions. Lobo may not be the world’s greatest watchdog, since his hearing isn’t quite what it used to be, but he patrols the fence lines at his foster home with military precision and barks with gusto to warn away rabbits and neighborhood cats who wander too close. But with his family, he’s just a lovebug, with a passion for neck and tummy rubs. He naps happily in his crate whenever his foster mom goes out, and he snoozes nearby wherever she is around the house. He’s just easy to have around!
