Moose

The M pups were born in a field in the city of Colton. Mom was dumped (literally pushed out of a truck) with Dad into a field and lived for two years. Animal Control attempted many times to pick her up. Over the two years, mom and dad (unfortunately) fathered many litters of pups. One litter (about a year ago) was picked up by a kind, concerned neighbor and adopted out of the humane society. Dad (probably a golden retriever/husky mix) was captured by animal control about 6 weeks ago and unfortunately euthanized due to time and space at the county shelter. (We were not alerted to the situation at this time...and wish we had been able to rescue dad)

The neighbor who had been trying to feed and befriend the mom and dad, noticed that mom had build a nest under a storage container on the property and then the next day there were 8 little babies born. He asked for help from animal control again and mom proved to be evasive. This kind man continued to feed and help mom, he worked with animal control to trap mom---as he knew that living in a field was no place for her and now she had 8 babies that were soon going to be running the streets as well. Mom was trapped and brought to the county animal shelter with her babies. Paul, the kind neighbor, visited them at the shelter every day--bringing treats and food for mom. He was devastated when he found out that mom and babies were soon going to be euthanized, as there was no space for a family of nine at the county shelter.

One of the shelter workers--moved by the kindness, compassion and sorrow of Paul--contacted us and begged us to save them. We already have 4 families (mom and babies) that we are caring for and to take on another litter was going to be quite the task. Needless to say, our volunteers opened up their homes and took this family in. The babies--now called the M pups--are about 6 weeks old and are accepting applications now. They are happy, healthy, bouncy bundles of fur! Mom is a German Shepherd mix--on the smaller side--and Dad was a furry golden retriever mix. These pups are going to be beauties!

Puppies are a life-long commitment. They need time, training, vet care and healthy feeding to become good canine citizens. Don't even think of adopting a puppy unless you intend to invest the time and money and commitment required, and you can expect to lose a few good shoes along the way!

If you are interested in meeting me, please fill out our online application. An adoption counselor will contact you. Due to the overwhelming response we get to puppies, we will not be able to provide information until we have an application on file.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $350 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
