Minnie

Meet Miss Minnie (aka Lil’ Bit). Minnie was found as a stray by the humane society who held her for many days waiting for a family to claim her. Unfortunately, no one came. That’s when Coastal came to the rescue!

Minnie is truly a miniature German Shepherd! She is approximately 7 months old and won’t get much bigger (she weighs less than 30 lbs). She has every feature of a German Shepherd – down to the mole on the side of her face. We have no idea what she is mixed with, but outside of the small size, the German Shepherd is what dominates (both physically and in her attitude)!

Minnie is great with other dogs of all sizes. At the humane society she was boarding with another small dog. Minnie is currently living in a foster home with 3 males and 2 female shepherds and yet has no idea she is not their size. Minnie alerts the pack to any activity going on outside and constantly on “duty.” She is earning her keep on patrol around the house! She engages the pack in play, as any typical puppy would. She is a confident but not dominating when meeting other dogs.

Minnie is friendly with people of all sizes too! She is extremely affectionate and bonds very easily. She would benefit from toys, as she still has a bit of puppy mouthing. Although she has not been cat tested, her size would make her a good candidate for being introduced to kitties. Minnie is simply an easy addition to any pack!

Please remember that puppies are a 10-15 year commitment. German Shepherds tend to stay in the “puppy phase” for the first three years and need both constant and consistent reinforcement of house rules. Minnie is potty trained, but would benefit from basic obedience training.

Puppies are a life-long commitment. They need time, training, vet care and healthy feeding to become good canine citizens. Don't even think of adopting a puppy unless you intend to invest the time and money and commitment required, and you can expect to lose a few good shoes along the way!

For dogs under 12 months old, Coastal German Shepherd Rescue asks for a minimum donation of $350 to help subsidize our medical and boarding costs.
