Ollie

Ollie, a handsome five year old black and tan German Shepherd, has its share of tragedy. It is the story of a long and happy life together until illness and financial disaster tore the family apart. We'd like to tell you his story.

Ollie lived with his human family since he was eight weeks of age. There were cats and other (big) dogs as well. When Ollie's human mom was diagnosed with cancer and then was evicted from their rental home (the landlord stopped paying the mortgage but didn't tell the tenant), she faced the difficult and increasingly common dilemma. Even when you've hit an emotional and financial wall and know you can no longer keep your lifetime companion, the desire to find another home often comes with no guarantees. Ollie was relinquished to a humane society in the hopes of getting him adopted. Little did anyone know that he would be in a crate without being shown to the public. Why, you might ask. He failed the cat test - or so they say. When his family received a call that Ollie would be euthanized, a friend of a friend found Coastal. Ollie was invited to one of our events and everyone fell in love with him.

Okay, here's some facts about Ollie. He is housebroken and is completely in love with balls. Any and all balls! In fact, he loves to walk around with a ball in his mouth. Maybe he wants someone to throw the ball. Maybe it gives him comfort. Regardless of the reason, we know he loves them. Ollie has also had some basic training. And while he is fine with big dogs, no small dogs please. Right now, his tail is between his legs and his entire body is shaking. He doesn't know what has happened to his family and the saddest part is that he is thinking they will be back to take him home. Little does he know, they too are searching for a home themselves. Ollie is ready and willing to move into your home as soon as you open the door to welcome him inside.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $400 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
