Pearson
Pearson when he first arrived at the Rescue!
As you can see, Pearson's feeling much better now!
We know Jagger to be a very sensitive boy, we also know that he will feel so bewildered and lost being plucked out of his family and shipped to a boarding facility. You see, Jagger was once orphaned . . . this was his story:
Jagger and his Lab brother were originally brought into a shelter as a stray. He was so confused about where he was and what happened. He lost his appetite and didn’t really want to engage with anyone. 10 Days later his family came and claimed him. The staff workers told us that he walked out of that shelter with his tail held high and it wagged all the way to the car.
Sadly, after 2 weeks the family that Jagger adored decided to take him back to the shelter, why? Because he had a lump on his neck that they did not want to take care of. Once again, Jagger was thrown for a loop. Thankfully the shelter called us the day he was relinquished and one of our volunteers came and picked him up. We took him to the vet and the lump on his neck was a salivary gland that was not working properly. He underwent minor surgery to correct the problem and 10 days later his neck was good as new!
During this time Jagger was fostered in a home with 3 BIG brothers and 2 females. He got yelled at a lot by his new fosters, despite all the yelling, he (Jagger) knew how to charm his way in. He did the wagging of tail (non-stop), laid on his back, gave them a ton of kisses and within 24 hours his brothers accepted him whole heartedly! Then came the non-stop playing of course.
What Jagger’s foster’s realized is that he was never allowed in the house, every time they tried to take him in, he would cower and start crawling as though he was going to get hit. Another thing that Jagger was so afraid of were plastic bags, he would run away from them like they were evil! It took a good 14 days for Jagger to finally realize that being in the house was a good thing and that he wouldn’t get in trouble. He enjoyed his bed the most, second to his jolly ball.
