Pratt

Pratt is such a special two year old male that he should be in a class of his own.

From the tip of his nose to the end of his tail, Pratt is an individual like no other. He couldn’t hide that free-wheeling, happy-go-lucky personality of his if he tried because those telltale ears would give it away. However, don’t let Pratt’s unconventional good looks fool you. His intelligence is just as sky high as that of his more traditional looking GSD relatives.

Pratt knows that there is a big world beyond your front door, and he is always prepped and ready to go. Once Pratt’s leash is fastened securely, and the door is in its fully locked position; Pratt’s eyes light up in anticipation of the fun to come. Have no worries as Pratt won’t drag you along behind him at a breakneck pace. A little correction or two and Pratt will monitor your cruising speed and settle into formation right along side regardless of whether you are taking the scenic tour or a non-stop trip.

Pratt knows his maneuvers and consistently performs “sit” and “down.” His favorite stunt by far is retracting the gear and rolling over so that you can give him a good belly rub. The only possible area of turbulence for Pratt is sharing his space with other four-legged friends. When Pratt landed at Coastal, he was a little bit selective about the dogs that he chose to share his space with. We have given him our crash course in canine socialization and Pratt appears to be succeeding with flying colors.

The only thing that Pratt needs now is a fun loving crew to take him under their wing. With Pratt as your co-pilot, we guarantee that your smile will be wide and your spirit miles high.

Update 5/25/09
Pratt has been a resident with Rescue for three months and everyone wants you to know that the wonderful, charming, and energetic boy whom we first met in February remains everyone's favorite in May! His world is full of positives. If you are looking for a super calm, sweet boy who loves to lay on your feet, Pratt's the boy for you. In the midst of chaos (even at our dog events which everyone knows can be quite chaotic because there are up to thirty dogs is a very confined environment), he impresses everyone when he lies down next to you. If you are looking for a dog who is fantastic on a leash and is very, very easy to handle, Pratt's the boy for you. If you are looking for a dog who is very obedient and is eager to please, Pratt's the boy for you. If you are looking for a dog who exudes sweetness and love (he absolutely adores people!), Pratt's the boy for you.

Okay, you are probably wondering whether Pratt has any quirks of which you should be aware. Although he is good with other dogs so long as they stay a few feet away from him, he doesn't want them in his space and can get a bit grouchy. We know, therefore, that he would rather not have any other dogs sharing his new home because he wants to share it exclusively with you!

If you are interested in meeting Pratt, please contact Tracey via email at tmac@san.rr.com. Don't forget to fill out our online application.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $400 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
