Radar

Radar is a typical high energy three month old male shepherd puppy. A shelter alerted us to him after he was turned in by his owner for "behavior issues". Hmmm ... behavior issues in a purebred three month old German Shepherd male puppy ... that would translate to people who gave him NO boundaries or discipline, and a very intelligent puppy run amok.

We are very pleased to help Radar as we know we can find him the appropriate home. In the meantime, we ARE establishing boundaries for this gorgeous young fellow to help him get back on the right track.

This little guy is very bright and somewhat unsocialized, but lucky Radar is living with four other shepherds who are teaching him how to live in the dog world. He is nearly housebroken at a very young age (he has yet to have an accident in his foster home), he comes when he is called and he will readily sit for a treat. He adores cow hooves (he has a chewing thing - no big surprise!).

Radar will be a high maintenance young man. He is extremely bright and will present a challenge to his new family. If you aren't committed to being a pack leader for a young buck like this, don't even think about applying for him. Radar has the potential to be a spectacular representative of the breed, but only in the right hands. In the wrong hands, he will be a train wreck. We will do everything we can to ensure that he finds his forever home with a family that will work with him and establish leadership.

Coastal is seeking a minimum donation of $500 for Radar. A puppy like Radar, if purchased from a breeder, would cost three times that much, if not more. This tax deductible contribution will help offset Coastal's medical bills for the less fortunate shelter dogs who come under our care such as Sabrina, who's funny little mug you see in the first picture.

Adopting a puppy is a big commitment, one you need to be prepared to make for 12 to 15 years. Any puppy adopted through Coastal will be spayed or neutered according to our philosophy. Don't think about adopting a puppy unless you are willing to go through chewed up shoes, potty training, dug up plants and obedience training, and making sure you'll always have a place in your home for your canine family member.

If you are interested in meeting Radar, please fill out our online application and one of our counselors will be in touch. Due to the overwhelming response we get to puppies, we will not be able to respond to questions until we have an application on file.

Please make a secure online donation today to help us continue our efforts!
