Sadie

Sadie is truly the ideal dog. She’s playful with people and other dogs; she’s affectionate and loving without being pushy; she’s even-tempered and undemanding; she’s crate-trained and snoozes there quietly while her foster mom goes out; she’s a great watchdog; she gets along with other dogs (both male and female); she’s completely potty trained; she loves kids; and she even likes cats! Although she’s eight years old, Sadie has the energy and heart of a youngster, keeping her five canine foster brothers and sisters on their toes.

Sadie was turned over to the rescue by a family that fell upon hard times and could no longer care for her. Although she had lived with them since she was about a year old, Sadie easily bonded with her new foster family, adjusting quickly to her new environment.

When she arrived in her foster home, Sadie had a serious weight problem. After embarking on a strict weight management program, she’s lost more than 10 pounds and is almost down to her “bikini weight.” Since she quickly and easily lost the weight, we believe she was simply overfed by her old family and suffers from no underlying health problems to cause her former obesity.

Sadie is a beautiful girl, average size for a female (now that she’s slimmed down), with a beautiful personality to match. One of her many endearing traits is her attachment to her special toy, an old beat-up deflated basketball (small size), which she brought with her when she came into the rescue. She carries it with her everywhere she goes, inside and outside. She loves to play fetch with it and is even willing to share it with other dogs for the sake of a good game.
