Sam

"The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," the song made famous by Roberta Flack many years ago, might be the song that comes to mind when you meet Sam for the first time. As you can see, he's a very handsome and a very expressive black and tan male who loves to talk and to tell you all about his day.

Sam first came to Rescue from a high kill shelter where he had been picked up as a stray. He patiently waited for his family to find him but no one came. After making his way to Rescue, he thought he'd found his new forever home when he was adopted early this year. In his new home he lived with a cat and with three children including a three year old. He loved to go for walks and walks very well on leash. House trained and eager to learn, he thought he was doing everything right. Sam took his job of protecting his home and his family very seriously. Perhaps too seriously which is the reason he was returned to Rescue, eight months after his adoption.

Sam is heartbroken and hopes that when you see his face and read his story that you'll welcome him into your home and your life. Children could be okay but only if they are older and mature, willing and able to participate in Sam's training and day to day living.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $400 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
