Coastal German Shepherd Rescue

Samson, approximately 4-6 years old, was rescued off the streets by a good Samaritan. Found wandering the streets, his ear was swollen to the size of a baseball, red, sore and tender. His ears were infected, and one ear had a hematoma. He was thin, had lost a lot of hair, and was covered in goop from his infected ears. He followed the good Samaritan home, walking unsteadily due to his ear infections, he was terribly hungry and thirsty when she got him home. She took him to the vet, who operated on the hematoma, bathed him, and discovered that he was hypo-thyroid, which explained the fur loss.

We brought Samson in and did further treatment on his crumpled ear and have continued his thyroid medication - this is a life long medication but is inexpensive and easy to administer.

Samson is in a foster home and his foster dad reports that Samson likes to be wherever he is. We do know that Samson is a cat chaser and somewhat defensive around other dogs. He LOVES his daily walks, doesn't pull just enjoys the day. He is housebroken and loves a car ride (he likes to help out by plopping his head in your lap).

Samson is a typical, bright German Shepherd - he will test his limits but is respectful to a firm and consistent human. His foster dad continues to work with him on obedience refreshers and he picks things up very readily.
