Shania
Adoption day arrives and Shania goes to what she thought would be her forever home. She was so excited! During her short one week stay in her new home, we are told that she has had her own bed and gets lots of love from the adopter and his elderly mother. She loves the dog park and loves playing with another dog in the household. (In fact, when she lived at the shelter, Shania lived with a female pit bull puppy whom she loved and who loved her.) She is very smart and comes when called. She is full of energy and rides well in the car. Why, you might ask, is she being returned after one short week? The adopter decided that having an energetic and exuberant puppy in the house with his elderly mother is not a good idea because he worries that Shania will jump up and his mother will fall.
Shania would like to ask everyone to remember that she's a puppy and from time to time, puppies jump on people. Why do they jump on people? Because they are happy and excited to see them! Jumping, leaping and bouncing are ways that a puppy shows affection and receives attention. Shania is a smart girl and with just an investment of some time and energy, she will be a good canine citizen.
Puppies are a life-long commitment. They need time, training, vet care and healthy feeding to become good canine citizens. Don't even think of adopting a puppy unless you intend to invest the time and money and commitment required, and you can expect to lose a few good shoes along the way! If you are interested in meeting Shania, please contact Teresa via email at baltao@sbcglobal.net. Don't forget to fill out our online application.
The minimum adoption donation ranges from $400 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems. Donate today using PayPal! Help us save dogs!
