Summer

Summer is a white female Shepherd, she is approximately 60 lbs and about 1 and a half years old. She is extremely affectionate and playful after getting to know you. She just wants to please and goes out of her way to do that in every way. She has no separation anxiety issues and just settles down and waits patiently for your return.

Summer spent her life before being turned into the shelter chained up in the backyard. She was covered with ticks and emaciated and distrustful. Because she was never really exposed to anything or anyone, she is overly cautious of anything that moves. Summer is afraid of new places and new people. When someone comes to visit, she runs to the bedroom and keeps a very low profile. She would do best with a cat-free home and would be happiest as the only animal. She is still learning to socialize and is very comfortable in her home environment. She is completely housebroken and has a light appetite. She will go for walks but is somewhat afraid if approached on a walk by a stranger or another dog.

The perfect situation for Summer would be with a woman who had lots of time to spend getting to know summer and gaining her trust. She will be happiest with someone with lots of love and understanding and patience. At the same time, Summer is a very low maintenance dog - very mellow and in her own space. She would not do well being confined or isolated. Just showering with love and attention and playtime with lots of toys to chase after is all she wants. As much as she wants company, she is also fine when left alone and does not bark or chew on things and exhibits none of the usual separation anxiety behaviors. She will greet you at the door with the most excited welcome when you return. She is extremely loyal and sweet in every way. Summers greatest obstacle to life at this point is her fear of anything new. She will just need some time to re-gain her self confidence.
