Thumper

Thumper is a very handsome two and a half year old pure white Shepherd. He loves his people and can be a bit protective at times. His family feels he would do best with someone who could work with him toward being less protective. Shepherds are bred to protect their flocks. Someone with Shepherd experience would fit the bill and be able to help Thumper understand when to be protective and when to let his humans make the decisions.

Information from Thumper's current owners, who've had him from the age of four weeks:

We named Thumper after the bunny in Disney's Bambi. He is about 2 1/2 yr old now. He is quite smart and he knows and obeys commands. He will wait until a count to 3 before he comes after a command to sit. I can say 1.2.4.12.9 then when I say the magic word of 3 he comes to me. Thumper loves to fetch and play catch balls or toys. Thumper will actually sit and swing with us on our patio swing when we say up Thumper. He loves attention and loves to take walks.

We have 2 cats and Thumper never bothers them. Thumper is very cautious of strangers. Children make him a little nervous and he is very active he may jump on them while playing. Thumper is well trained and an excellent watch dog to have. He sleeps in our garage or his dog house and in our home, especially during the July 4th with fireworks.

Since Thumper is protective, he does not take to strangers reaching to pet him. He knows our family and some friends and is very friendly. Thumper lives with a disabled boy and is very good with him. He even loves to play with dogs, particularly a terrier, a golden retreiver and a siberian husky who are his friends. As long as strange dogs are at a distance Thumper is fine because he does'nt feel threatened.

We would love Thumper to be in a home with someone who is willing to spend time with him and wants a great companion. He is up to date with all shots and has been neutered. He has never been sick and never been diagnosed with a disease. He is healthy and strong.
