Torrance

When you take a look at Torrance's ears in these photos, you know that she'll hear her name when you call her so you can give her a hug and a kiss! She's a beautiful six month old tri color girl who arrived at Rescue from a high kill shelter. She's made lots of progress in her foster home and we want to tell you all about it.

Torrance loves to give kisses and loves to play. There are other animals in her foster home including another German Shepherd dog with whom she gets along very well. There are also two cats. The younger cat provides a great deal of play opportunities but the older cat who sleeps all day isn't much fun at all. Torrance also thinks that the one year old little boy would also be a great playmate as well. Even though she's very gentle with him, play time is quite limited because both Torrance and the little boy are so young.

Torrance knows that good canine manners are very important and she will "sit" on command and knows what "leave it" means. Torrance is almost potty trained. Because she's very smart, we know that more and more progress will soon be made. She's doing great but Torrance still needs to be taken on periodic outside potty breaks. Torrance says that every two hours is just about right for now.

From time to time, she reminds you that she is, after all, still a puppy and puppies like to chew on anything that looks chewable. Her foster family though makes sure that she has plenty of toys of her own with which to play so they keep her very busy.

Cars and loud noises can still be a little scary. Torrance goes to dog beach from time to time, and all those dogs and the high activity level can be scary as well - or maybe it's the sound of the crashing waves! Again, all those noises are becoming less and less scary as time and exposure to them go by. Finally, maybe it is because of all the sights and sounds and anxiety of driving on freeways and highways in California but right now, Torrance does not do well riding in a car. Well, she rides well but her stomach becomes very upset and she gets sick. Her foster family is trying an herbal supplement which seems to be helping, but Torrance wanted all of you to know that she may want to stay close to home for a while. Or travel by feet and paws, not by car!

Puppies are a life-long commitment. They need time, training, vet care and healthy feeding to become good canine citizens. Don't even think of adopting a puppy unless you intend to invest the time and money and commitment required, and you can expect to lose a few good shoes along the way!

If you are interested in meeting me, please contact Teresa via email at baltao@sbcglobal.net. Don't forget to fill out our online application.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $400 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
