Vegas

Vegas shows off her scar after her surgery!

Vegas is a pretty 3 year old sable female. She is just a happy little camper, ready to go with you anywhere. She jumps right up in the car for you and rides like a champ. She's great with other dogs and walks nicely on the leash for you. She is sharing a room with another female named Senoma.

Vegas was just rescued from a high kill shelter. Like most of the dogs at the shelter, she came in as stray, so the shelter didn’t have any history on her. At this time, we don't know much about her other than our evaluator's observations and notes. We will post updates to her bio as we spend time and get to know her better.

Update from her foster mom 5/27/2009:
A lot has happened to Vegas since she came under Coastal’s care. Shortly after she arrived, we noticed her right hip was dislocating from the socket. We had her seen by an orthopedic vet who evaluated her hips and found that the left hip was sound and healthy – this was not a dog with hip dysplasia. Her right hip had sustained an injury that was never treated – probably several months earlier. It looks like Vegas was used for breeding, so it is probable that once she was not useful for that purpose, she was dumped.

Vegas had repair surgery for her hip, and is recovering in my home as a foster dog. Despite having to recover from the original injury without care and being discarded at a high kill shelter, Vegas has maintained a loving disposition. She is sweet and loving and affectionate, and very well mannered in my home. She gets along great with my male shepherd and my male corgi. She is trusting and loves attention and has immediately bonded with me and my husband. She is currently on crate rest while her hip heals and is cooperating very well with that. When she is out of the crate, all she wants to do is cuddle.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $400 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
