Whistler

Whistler is an 11 month old male who was purchased as a puppy. His owners who are in the early 70’s realized that having a dog of his size and his energy level were too much for him. Whistler was kept in the backyard since puppyhood, it is the only home he knows. Whistler has learned to entertain himself with toys, and when he does run out of toys he gets very creative and invents his own toys (like playing with the sprinkler system as an example).

Quite unfortuantley because of Whistler’s size he never really got a chance to go on any walks after the age of 4 months, and so walking him on a leash is very new to him, other things around the neighborhood that he has never seen is also new to him. When he sees anything new, he stops and cautiously smells whatever it is and then once he knows it’s safe and it won’t eat him then he goes on his merry way.

Whistler is 110% puppy! He loves to be trained although sometimes I think he has selective hearing J. Toys are his biggest motivation. When full grown, he is going to be a BIG boy! At 11 months he weighs 73 pounds, and he has 2 more years of growing.

Whistler's adoption donation is $500.

If you are interested in meeting Whistler, please contact Teresa via email at baltao@sbcglobal.net. Don't forget to fill out our online application.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $300 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible.
Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
