Winston

When Winston entered the shelter on his first day, everything around him shocked him. The noise, the smell, all the dogs around him and not to mention the “feeling” behind bars. He obediently followed the program, he ate when given food, walked when someone came to get him, and drank water when thirsty. This new routine went on for a good 7 days. On the 8th day, Winston got depressed. We think at this point he thought this would be his new home. He started to pick on his food but wouldn’t finish it, and when asked to come out for a walk, he needed to be coaxed out of the kennel. This was not the Winston they knew. During his walks in the beginning, he would continually look around as though he was searching for his family, and as the days went on and he got more depressed, while walking all he could do was walk with his head hanging low.

The shelter was concerned that Winston wasn’t doing too well with them. We received “the call” and whisked him away.

Winston’s first day at the event, he did what he apparently used to do, he didn’t stop looking around, searching for the family that would come and get him, he whined a lot and didn’t stop looking at every person that walked passed him. It was a very difficult day not only for Winston but for the rest of the volunteers as well. It was heartbreaking for everyone.

In the last 2 weeks that he’s been with us, he’s had a lot of people interaction, play time and had consistently gone for walking expeditions. Winston stopped looking for his family and is now looking forward to his play time and walking time. He is a dog who is well behaved and will always walk with a smile on his face. We know that he is still looking for his forever home, we would love for his wish to come true . . . . in the meantime he is patiently waiting for that special someone to take him home.

Winston is a BIG boy who gets along well with other dogs and has a HUGE fan base at the Rescue!!!!!
