Zane

What's not to love about this two-year-old gentle giant? Zane was pulled from a high-kill shelter before his life was ended abruptly. This was his second stay at the shelter. The first time, his owner felt he was worthy of coming back for. The second time, Zane was not so lucky. His owner, who had 10 other dogs, decided Zane wasn't worth the time or trouble. Zane patiently waited for his owner, but when his owner didn't come, his time was up, and he was moved to the list of those waiting to be put to sleep.

Zane happily went into his travel crate for the trip to San Diego. He nibbled on his bone beside his two new best friends. When he was taken out, he did a gentlemanly bow to Kaydee, another lucky dog, as if to ask, "Could I have this dance?" And they danced together on the grass for the next hour, rolling on the ground, wrestling with each other, giving kisses, and smelling the fresh air. Side by side, they explored the scents they almost never had a chance to smell again, and in the end, they sank quietly on a soft bed in a kennel they didn't have to share with anyone, with a nice bowl of food all their own, waiting now for the home and family that will be forever.

Zane has the potential to be an intimidating fellow, but he chooses to be the giant Teddy Bear instead, gently giving a kiss to a child, or sitting in front of a cat, wagging his tail, loving every little hug anyone chooses to bestow upon him. If you have room in your home and heart, this guy is ready to fill that space.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $350 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
