Ziggy

When the gentleman who bred Ziggy and her brother, Meeko, passed away, the next of kin assumed responsibility for the orphaned GSD puppies. Unfortunately they didn’t share the same passion that their grandfather had for dogs because they kept the pups outside in a dog run for four years until the fateful day when Ziggy and Meeko found a new squeaky toy. Unfortunately his novel source of entertainment happened to be one of the neighbors’ chickens. The family decided to keep their neighbor happy vs. keeping Grandpa’s dogs.

Despite treatment that seems to border on neglect to those of us who refer to our dogs as members of our immediate families, Ziggy and Meeko are very well-adjusted. Grandpa must have done a good job with the breeding because these guys are confident and content just like proper GSD’s are supposed to be.

Ziggy and Meeko thrived at their first “meet and greet opportunity” this past week. It didn’t matter to them that nothing at the mall was specifically designed for canines. The excitement of finally being allowed to venture beyond the dog run and enjoy all of the new sights, sounds, and smells was sufficient to generate some happy tail wagging

Ziggy is a real charmer. She demonstrated an Oscar worthy performance at her first adoption event this weekend when she flashed everyone who walked by with that “take me home” expression. No one could resist taking a minute out of their busy day to give her a quick pet. Ten minutes later they were still petting her and marveling at what a well behaved sweetheart she was.

Although Ziggy and Meeko came to us together, there won’t be any love lost if they go their separate ways. Typical brother and sister sibling rivalry we suppose because they both got along fine with the other GSD’s. Consequently, you won’t have to wrestle with a broken heart if you only have room to take one of them home.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $300 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
